Late His Eminence, ENB Opurum, GSSRS, MFR, JP, Ochie of Etche Ethnic Nationality.
The Ochimba and Paramount Ruler of Egbeke/Nwuba Council of Traditional Rulers, Chief ACI Blankson, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Ochie of Etche Land and Paramount Ruler of the Etche Ethnic Nationality, His Eminence, Eze E.N.B. Opurum.
Chief Blankson conveyed his condolence message to the family of the late monarch, the Etche traditional institution and the entire people of Etche, describing the passing of the revered royal father as a profound loss to the traditional institution and the wider Rivers State community.
In a message conveyed through his Media Consultant, Kingdom Chieche Nwafor, Chief Blankson acknowledged the late Eze Opurum’s position as a respected traditional ruler whose reign was associated with wisdom, dignity, cultural preservation and service to his people.
He described the late Ochie as a father and elder whose presence transcended the boundaries of his immediate domain, noting that his counsel and experience were valued within the traditional institution and among those who sought his guidance.
Chief Blankson particularly expressed sympathy with the immediate family of the late monarch, urging them to remain consoled by the life he lived and the legacy he left behind.
According to him, the death of a monarch who had devoted many years to the service of his people creates a significant void, especially within a traditional institution where continuity, history and cultural heritage are passed from one generation to another.
He also extended his condolences to the Etche Council of Traditional Rulers, the Etche Ethnic Nationality, traditional rulers across Rivers State and all sons and daughters of Etche at home and in the diaspora.
Chief Blankson prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Ochie of Etche Land and asked God to grant the Opurum family the fortitude to bear the loss.
He further called on traditional rulers and leaders across the state to continue to uphold the values of peace, unity, mutual respect and cultural heritage, stressing the importance of preserving the dignity of traditional institutions even in moments of grief.
